I HAVE CROCUSES!!

What a lovely surprise to a rainy day, that followed a rainy day. I went to take the trash out, and glanced toward the garden, and I see crocuses!! I wasnt sure they were going to pop up because I put them in last year, and I did it under sod ( saw that on HGTV) and it looks like they are poppin out now!! I should have a lot more in the next couple of days. It was almost dark when I took this pic, so its not the best, but if you look real close, you should see 5 purple and one white.

I thought you all had 6" of rain there in Henderson. You must be on high ground. I wish that I had some crocuses. I'm definitely planting a bunch this fall, that is if the good Lord extends my contract.Great picture. Your friend, Bill Mitchell |

I read somewhere that crocuses can be planted under lawn sod. I wanted to do this a long time ago but my question is, what happens if you have to mow the lawn? Every morning that we wake up is a blessing so hang in there Bill, and plan on planting your crocuses this fall and show us the picture. Well, actually the crocuses are a short growing plant and the blooms are all gone by the time grass cutting starts. They will return year after year to surprise you in early spring, because you've forgotten where you planted them. You have a great day and happy gardening. Bill Mitchell |

Bills right. The lawn around mine is kinda long cause I didnt really cut it in the fall, and we really didnt have any snow that stuck to kill it. That high ground that those are on is in the main part of my garden, which sits about 18 inches higher than the rest of the yard, thats the only reason they are not swimming right now. |
