About BMan

We outgrew our small 5 acre place 10 years and purchased our present 30 acre place. It was an overgrazed piece of land, which we didn’t mind as we’d have a clean slate. We built a house in the middle of the property along with a greenhouse, and several barns and then started on the gardens and landscaping. We’ve also planted thousands of trees providing more privacy. Most of the trees we planted were Doug Fir, but we also planted a lot of Cedars, Pine, Sitka Spruce and several hundred Coastal and Redwood Sequoias.

We had to have dozens of dump trucks bring in fill dirt to bring our back garden level with the house. This is a picture of our garden in back of the house.

We also built some bigger beds in back of this garden for our potatoes, corn, beans and squash. We love to garden and also to travel and visit other gardens and nurseries. And if that doesn’t take enough of our time, we also have the horses and chickens to maintain.

Crows
I've had this hate relationship with crows for years. They're loud, they break the leaders off the fir trees, eat my fruit and have drunken brawls all night long in the nearby trees. Last year they didn't show up - maybe it was West Nile, I don't kno...

Tillandsia split
I bought a Tillandsia several years ago. I put it on a piece of wire and it started to multiply. Each year the ball gets bigger and bigger to where it's now about 3 feet in diameter. Recently I've noticed some kind of a hull breach occurring - probab...

Powerless
I have a sickness. I buy lilies whenever I see them. I thought I was finished after I bought a bunch at the garden show but when I went to the grocery store today there they were. Ugly looking things, 4 inch white sprouts on them - terrible shape. I ...
