Boy do I have a LOT of work to do in the gardens! Amazing how fast they can get away from you in just a week LOL!
We got back last night about 7 or so, after spending almost a week with the in-laws outside of Harrisburg PA. We had a lot of fun :) On Saturday my MIL took me to a wonderful nursery. It was like torture though because I had to really limit myself as to what I could buy- can only fit a few plants for the drive home into the car. I did buy a 3 foot weeping Japanese Maple "Garnet", only because it was such a deal! Around here, they are about $350-$400. I bought it for a whopping price of $55!!!!!!!!!!! I bare-rooteed it for the drive back home- and as soon as we got in I potted it back up. As of right this minute it looks wonderful- no signs of shock at all. Now to prepare the spot for it. :) I also bought a small Mountain Bluet and some hens and chicks.
After wading up and down the creek checking all of the wildflowers, I came away empty handed- not a single ripe seed pod *pout* Maybe next fall when we come back up for SIL's wedding they will be ripe :)
The gardens fared very well in my absence. The only plants that seem to be struggling are the annuals planted under the cedar tree, they're pretty wilty. Everything else looks fabulous, and the potted brugmansias have really grown a lot in just a week. Something knocked the bud off of the "Supernova" brug- I'm sad about that, it would've been funny to see a flower the same size as the plant LOL! Oh well, maybe it'll bloom in the house this winter.
I better get going to go play in the gardens- the grass really needs cut!
Until later, Have fun gardening :)
