First I would like to thank everyone who commented on the injured dove. I came to the conclusion to let nature go on. I really don't want to take the responsibility of caring for a wild bird for the rest of it's life. I haven't seen it at all today, but I wasn't looking for it either. I am hoping that either the fox or the feral cats will take it soon to stop it's suffering. I just can't bring myself to end it's misery.
On a different note, I spent much of today picking beetles off of my plants while the kids played in the pool. I must've got about 100 of them! We all came in for the afternoon as it rached 101 degrees. The weather was saying that the humidity was only 25 percent, but I swear they were lying LOL!
About to head out to water again. I watered really well last night night, but the plants were literally wilting in the heat today.

I picked off the first Japanese beetles this morning from the malva. There were only ten or fifteen so far, but I'll do some real battle with them in the future.Thank God for the watering hose. It seems like every part of Kentucky is getting some rain except here at my garden. You have a great day and happy gardening. Bill Mitchell |

I haven't seen any as yet in my yard. And don't ever see too many. Especially since I did away with the 'rose bed' that never did well - only served as enticement for that dreaded JB. LB |
