Last evening we took the kids to the local planetarium. It's run by the Chesapeake Public Schools and is free! We had a lot of fun. This month's show is about the signs of the Zodiac- it was really interesting to learn how the constellations that make up the Zodiac were chosen, and how to recognize them in the night sky. Megan really seemed to enjoy it, Logan didn't seem all that impressed. Usually after the show, they let everyone look through the telescope- but of course it was cloudy. They also gave out charts of the night sky with all the constellations. I can't wait for a clear evening to see if we can find some.
I didn't do a whole lot in the garden yesterday- just a little bit of weeding. I was going to mow the front yard, but I couldn't find the key to the riding mower, and I really didn't feel like using the push mower since I was feeling lazy. I was teaching the kids' friends about some of the plants and bugs that I have in the garden. I was able to find a baby mantis that I taught them about, and showed them the egg case too. Then they started asking about all of my different plants. I had a lot of fun answering their questions, and teaching them about plants and bugs.
Today is rainy, so I doubt I'll be able to get much done outside. That's all right, I have a very messy house and grocery shopping to do!

Getting those kids ready to feed themselves and enjoy nature is a very good thing. Glad you had a nice relaxing day. LB |
