I have read a few different ways to freeze tomatoes and am wondering what those who have done it find the best. I would also like to know what the difference would be between freezing them and canning them in regards to their consistency once cooked. I am also wondering if there is anything i can do with the over abundance of cherry tomatoes, yellow cherry and yellow pear tomatoes i have? Thanks Scott |

i was told to just wash them and throw them in a freezer bag. when they thaw the skins will come off easily. |

We didn't wash our's before freezing. That way they don't stick together. But when we do wash them, the skins come off easily. I've never canned tomatoes so I don't really know which method is best. |

I wash and dry then toss in freezer bags. You can always do the same thing with the cherry tomatoes, then thaw them and toss em in a salad, they wont be as firm as fresh picked of course. My granny used to freeze tom's, thaw them out then slice them up for sandwiches after taking the skins off. |

Freezing is very much the easiest. I do just as Randy stated! If used for a sauce, soup, chili, etc. it dosen't really matter. Only time I can then is when the freezer is full or needed for other things! |
