Anyone here use zoo poo? At the National Zoo, I can get a truckload of whatever animals poo you'd ever want.
I've gotten elephant poo in the past, which is hands down, the best stuff you can get for inoculating your garden soil.
I prefer the fresh stuff over the dried stuff anyday. It helps if you have a pickup truck when you go get it though.

It would be a 3 hour drive for me to get Zoo poo, so the answer is no.

Have you seen the thread "looking for partners in crime"? he he

Hey, drop some off at my place! I just can't seem to find many sources of manure around here.

Interesting thought!

What made you think of that TroyBilt?

Troybilt, other than the elephant poo factor, do you get manure from the farms and equestrian center in Southern MD? I am in central MD and I would be interested in zoo doo, but it is farther than I would like to travel. So I get what is available closer to me.

I thought of it because in some of my gardening books, the writers recommend using elephant poop because it has lots of beneficial enzymes & bacteria which promotes healthy soil.
I tried it about 15 years ago, & my sunflowers grew to 17' tall that year. They previously grew to only 12'.
As for horse poo, I have a horse farm close to me that will give me all the poo I want for free. As long as I haul it away.
I try to stay away from horse poo unless it's been composted for at least a year to kill off any weed seeds.
As for any farms, they are being sold off & homes built at a ridiculous rate. There are hardly any farms left in SoMar.

I have another thought on great compost if you can get it - I live next to a water treatment plant and they make tons of the best compost every day. YOu have to go pick it up, but it's $7 to fill up the back of my pick up!!! This stuff is so well composted you can plant directly in it (I have without problems, but recommend letting it literally cool down a day or two before planting). I usually mix it in with soil and things grow crazy in it. Now I don't know if every water treatment plant makes compost, but anyone who lives in a large town or small city should look into it!
