Thanks. I knew about that cleaning method. I'd still really like to figure out how to make the 'bowl' kind though. |

Get some denture cleaning tablets and put a few in your feeder with very warm water. Let stand over night. Repeat for tough stains. |

Yes, I soak mine and use a toothbrush or bottle brush but I still can't get all of the yuck out. It'd be so much easier to have one where I can take off the top and wash the whole thing thoroughly. I was hoping to get more replies. |

I was hoping someone would come up with a few ideas. I sure don't have any! LOL Since we are dealing with liquid instead of seed it makes it way more difficult. I just use the others and wash them with a brush and hot soapy water. If ye soak them a bit they come clean pretty easy. I do love the hummers tho!! Ye need to start a wee savings fer the one ye want.

Does anyone have any ideas for a homemade hummingbird feeder? I have the standard red ones with 3 stations on it. But they can be hard to clean. I would love to come up with a way to make one like the ones that are shaped like cereal bowls (they are expensive!). Something I can just take the top off and wash it real good. I'm fairly creative but this has me stumped! |
