"Tree's". I own two acres, which is entirely flat, without any barriers for privacy from the neighbors!! I have worked hard for the last 12 years in landscaping a natural fence so I can really do the things that I want to do on my property. I would have to say that my favorite tree is any type of evergreen. I prefer them to be with "skirts" and not limbed up, they are ugly to me that way! Luckily I live in an area where there are many varieties of evergreens and I have gone out into the woods and dug up 99% of the tree which are planted on my place!! (Over 100, in total).
grandmakathy Over 100 trees. WOW! You sure are brave! Only trouble with evergreens is they acidify the soil to a point that you will be limited with your choice of flowers to those that love the acid soil. Good luck with your natural screen. pennyandrusty Thanks. It has been one uphill battle.. or downhill, cuz one of my problems is that the slope is steep and the seeds gets washed down to the flat part at the bottom. Plant stuff at the top, next year nothing there and piles all mixed higgledy-piggledy at the bottom. Grrr! This is one reason I need help from a landscape professional. Gimpy2 |

Annuals! I'm quite fickle, and plants that don't flower or stop flowering get tossed. Tossing annuals is...at least for me...guilt free. |

I want trees first, and then the rest will fall in place. After losing so many trees after a hurricane, you WANT trees! Big Trees! |

My biggest problem is remembering what I planted where. I've tried writing it down and even drawing a map, but by the following spring I have no idea where I put it, and have found bulbs attached to the "weeds" I was pulling up. OOOPS!

Hi GloWill, Welcome to Garden Guides. I have exactly the same problem. Makes every year an adventure with surprises around every corner. Linda B from SC |

I love perennials because they come back and bloom at different times of the year. Of course, I must sprinkle around annuals when the spring comes. Just can't resist that instant color. |
