Did you get any foliage this Spring? They send up foliage first then that dies back- the blooms come in August. If you didn't get any foliage at all this year,I'd say they are gone. If you got foliage but cut it not knowing what it was then you won't get blooms this year but as long as they are allowed to complete the cycle next season , you will. |

I did alot of reading on the bulb. They don't like to be moved at all and one article said that it would take up to 2 years before they bloomed. I did get lucky and out of about 40 bulbs 2 bloomed. I had some in a bag for my mom and when I opended it 3 had bloom stalks! |

For years I'd been wanting some of these lilies, also called naked ladies or resurrection lilies and finally last year a friend gave me some. I did get some mystery foliage and after two months of waiting for flowers to appear, I realized they were probably the surprise lilies, but I never got any flowers. At the lake I never got any foliage. Last week I saw a box of newly dug lily bulbs a neighbor had put out for the trash. Some of them were still blooming!!! I'm dying for blooms and these were in the trash. So I became a trash picker and took them home. I planted the ones with the flowers after they had been in the box for two days. I thought they would die right away and was going to wait for fall. They looked good for a week and now are fading. So I will give them a shot of bone meal and hope for the best next year. I saved, to plant later, some of the ones with flowers broken off and gave some away. I figured that was my good deed for the week.
