Besides the usual poinsettias, what other indoor plants would look nice around Christmas? I'd like to have something different around the house this year. We do have cats, so preferrably nothing poisonous.

Rosemary.... only buy one now before they all get bonsied into those rediculous conical shapes that are sold in the big boxes. I like the natural unrulely look that unprunned rosemary takes on. The legends of the rosemary are interesting too.

lol, wes! I see those at Christmas, but I get the unruly one, which they also sell. Rosemary is my favourite herb!

Amaryllis and Paper White (Narcissus) kits will be available for forcing near the holidays. Kalanchoe is also available (in bloom) year-round.

Ooo, yes, Kalanchoe. A nice red plant for Christmas! Thanks, FP.

Kalanchoes are so cool, there are so many differant varieties of them and differant colors too.

I bought my (red) poinsettia yesterday. I also picked up a small white cyclamen. The two together look very nice. I couldn't find the Medusa ornamental pepper, but my Explosive Ember is doing well. Has anyone else bought any Christmas plants or arrangements yet?

Nice one Caz.

My Christmas cactus was starting to bloom after I moved it. Had buds formed too then Sam chomped it down. He bit it and spat it out but got all the buds. I have moved it again this time out of his reach. It looks really lop sided now. I don't plan on buying anything that lives for Christmas as I am not good at keeping them alive. I'll probably get some in gifts to slave over and kill so I'll just hang onto my own money.

Bad Sammy! I have a Christmas cactus from years ago. It does nothing. But then I do nothing with it either. LOL It hasn't grown, but hasn't died either. It's like it's frozen in time or something. I potted an amarylis, but that hasn't done anything either. I see a pattern here...
