Blue belle, I have the same Mantis as Mainegal, but with the 4-stroke honda engine. Its a few dollars more but well worth the extra money when you don't have to mix the fuel and smell the nasty 2-stroke emissions. One piece of advice, check Ebay for new ones. They sometimes have better deals.

to start the search I need to find #s on the unit. so far all I've found is a number on top of the transmission. Tomorrow is another day so good night.

Wayne, this is a link, at the same site MaxBaer gave you, that is for a detailed parts search...might be helpful. http://mtd.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?M F&app=MTDC&lang=EN&TF=Mainframe&loginID=MTDCon%20& LoginPWD= Select Troybilt and model = horse.

Manuals are available at various sites, for sale, if you Google TroyBilt Horse Manual...

Yesterday I took a road trip and picked up my first rear tine tiller. It's a troy Bilt horse. All I know is that it's old and operates as it should, but I wish I had a link to find parts, owners manual, age of unit, etc. It came with a plow but I'm going to weld up an attachment for a trailer ball so this old cripple can move my boat trailer around easier. I was also thinking about trying to make a trenching attachment for it as I have to run a new water line out to the garden.

I have a 5 hp front tine model that's 10 years old, and looks & runs like brand new. I definitely take care of my equipment. It still starts by the 3rd pull.
