My compost pile is close to 15 cubic yards big. It's 10' X 10' X 4' high. I used some plastic snow fence to enclose it. I have it divided into two sections, one for the working compost & the other for the finished product. How big is yours? |

I have 3. All about a cubic yard. One finshed that I use, one just about done that will be used this fall and a working pile for next year. You can NEVER have enough!

I have 3 piles that are 3x3x3 going and one tumbler. The 2 of piles will be used this fall as a top dressing and the 3rd pile, which is more of amended fill dirt, will be used to create a bed. But I do have a smaller 4th pile of new stuff that I will add to. |

How big? It depends on the time of year. I have plenty of room (25.5 acres) so I don't have to enclose mine. Right now, after working all summer, the pile is about 15' by 20' and about a foot deep. I'll soon be bringing it all together in a smaller, taller heap. With the leave fall that will be upon us in a month the heap will be about the same dimensions except it will be about 4' deep. |

I have 2 bins 3 1/2' X 3 1/2' X 3 1/2' by 3 1/2' high then I have 2 piles waiting to go in. I have a butternut squash that planted itself in one bin and cantaloupe with toms planted themselves in the pile that needed to go in the bin *LOL I left them and got nice veggies, just another one of those gifts. My second bin has mostly greens and food scraps, with a little hay. Kale
