I was given a comfrey plant to start. At first, it sounds good, but in doing research, I'm not so certain I want in my yard. Really tall, maybe invasive, doesn't sound very pretty? What's your experience? Is it worth the trouble? Help me decide.

I used to grow Comfrey (Symphytum) years ago!. Its a shame your research gave you a negative impression of it,such as being an unattractive plant?,beauty really is in the eye of the beholder!..When info is given about certain things like plants, folk are put off before they have had the chance to make up there own minds!. Its not an unattractive plant. The only unattractive plant I've ever seen is a dead one!..Comfrey,has pale yellow to purple bell shaped flowers that hang in cluster's. Bloomes in spring/summer. It looks like foxglove when not in bloom,so identify before handling. It grows to about 90 centimetres. Research its many properties, then decide!.. Its whats inside that counts!..

I grew it back in the 80s in Charlotte when I first started growing herbs and became known as The Herb Lady. I didn't care for its looks either.
When I moved here, I didn't bring it with me and haven't grown it since.

Not my favorite.

My friend was given a start of comfrey and she shared with me. She was told we should plant the comfrey under/around our apple trees because comfrey adds nitrogen the the soil. But given the size of the plant, I don't think I want to plant there. Thank you all for you input, especially the photos told2b. I'm feeling more postive now!
