...know I'm wrong...but it reminds me of bay...but you did say a bush...does it have a fragrance when you crush a leaf??

I though it to be Bay leaf but not sure. It is more like a little tree than a bush but I guess you could categorize it as a bush...

Forgot to mention it has a nice bouquet..kind if sweet but not totally like a store bought and dry bay leaf....

HA! You are so right purplepassion, It was the post title underneath that threw me ....I was thinking along the lines of a spice bush or pepper tree. Post it in the herbal forum as well

It looks a little like Privot,I dont know if you have it there?. It can also have a sweet scent. It is considered noxious here,if allowed it will grow as a tree,the leaves will change colour from all green to green-red,the flowers are creamy-white and quite dainty,and grow in small clusters from each stem!..This is a young privot that will soon be getting the chop,its a shame really because it does make a good gap filler!...And leaves look pretty with the flowers..

It is not "privet" because privet has oppositely arranged leaves and this one has alternately arranged leaves.
