First of all, let me say you have beautiful garden beds with which to work!

Secondly, you can always ignore the weeds, as I do by mid-summer

because Thirdly, short of some basic trustworthy perennials and a HEAVY layer of mulch applied in spring and again later in summer, you WILL get weeds!

the corner by the house with the creeping phlox looks lovely - what comes up later in the year?

What 'look' are you going for? You could consider heavier 'shoulder-to-shoulder' plantings which would do a better job of crowding out weeds. Something like a cottage garden, but be warned, it can look like a jungler compared to your neat landscaping.

Good luck!

I agree that you have a lovely start.

Is your top priority lots of colorful blooms or easy care?

It looks like it is full sun. Is that right?

One big benefit of mulching is that even though you still get weeds, they are much easier to pull and will take less time.

Stone work would really bring home the country theme I think. Stacked stone with river gravel walkways from garden to garden. That is such a lovely home. HAVE FUN!

Beautiful home! I also think the English cottage garden look would be perfect. I'd pack those beds with tons of pretty flowers. Please post "after" pics!!!!

This is perfect for a beach spot. There you would do your gardening and your children will be playing with the backyard. It's a perfect family paradise.
