I have found myself suddenly addicted to crochet. I would love to see any finished projects that any of you have done. I knit a little also, but for some reason I have fallen in love with crochet. I'm trying to make some baby booties right now and will post pics when (and if) I finish. I have made a few afghans but I'm ready to try to learn more. I'm self taught so the "more" will have to be self taught also. Please let me hear from you! Trish

I enjoy crochet also. I just learned this waffle stitch pattern from Betts. It's fun to do. I made lots of washcloths, and I'm now making a scarf.

That's a beautiful stitch. I've never done one like that. I always like to see other people's handiwork so be sure to post new things as they're made.

Greetings fellow thread 'n yarn lovers,

Crocheting is my first love, right up there with my plants I'm self taught, have been crocheting since '78 and just now getting comfortable with apparel.

Before the internet, I've collected vintage crochet books from doilies to bedspreads. I have a very large library of crochet patterns. My very first crochet subscription was to Annie's Attic and still have some of those booklets. I also have the 1991 to 1993 Barbie monthly series for those lovely gowns. I made only one, but someday maybe I'll make another.

But, when I came across the Magic Crochet books I thought I died and gone to heaven! My crochet time was cut in half using the symbol system than reading the directions. It was time consuming not losing my place, lol.

I didn't begin to crochet with yarn until the late '80s, it felt like I was using cables and a log for a hook, lol. I made a few afghans and blankets, from patterns and revising patterns. It took me a while to get that 'gauge' thingy

I love learning new stitches and revised one my mom taught me in the 80's. I'm working on an afghan for our oldest, plus this one in her favorite colors using that revised stitch. I call it the 'floating granny'...it's based from a diagonal pattern..but for the life of me...I can never figure how to put it in writing

I'll stop here...hope we can get a lot of 'thread 'n yarn' folks exchanging ideas, patterns, yarn doodles and experiences

Wishing you all well (-_~) Betts

Witt I love that waffle stitch. It looks hard but I'd like to try. And Betts...that afghan is going to be beautiful. I just finished my first pair of baby booties today. Did ya'll hear me squealing with excitement? Now I want to try a different pattern of booties and try to improve on them. This is so much fun!

Oh this is exciting! I learned to crochet from my grandmother when I was very young. I haven't crocheted anything for years but still have my favorite hook! I made a couple of scarves and one afghan that was the American Flag. I sold that several years ago though. I should have kept it!

I may have to get back into this, I love the different stitches!

Come on Sadie...get that hook out and do some yarn doodles

"Yarn Doodles" are swatches of your own combination of stitches, motifs and so on. I have several small boxes, I'll post some in a few days.

My floating granny is a yarn doodle and so was my 'merphone' in my hobby album.

Wishing you well (^_~)

Hello again, this is great! Glad to see everyone's projects. Keep it coming.

I created a Crochet Doodles album, these are swatches I played with over the years. With the large pattern library I have, when I want to doodle, I look for a stitch and play with it. Needless to say I can get carried away.

Years ago, I picked up all kinds of yarns 'n threads at yard sales and used them for crochet doodling. Since then I've learn a lot about yarns.

Now the draw back to this habit....I forgot to pin a note which book the stitch came from!! If you crochet doodle, pin a note to the swatch, lol.
