What kind of tree is this?

I thought it might be am american or dutch elm but the trunk and limbs are just to big. I'm trying to get the owner to allow me to take a leaf to examine. I took this picture from on top of my landscape trailor. The privot hedge in front hides the beauty of the limbs which are 4 feet off the ground. The canopy is huge and rounded.
