Seems to be a redbud but that would be too easy.

Yes, the leaves greatly resemble redbud (Cercis).
But like you said, that would be too easy.

The MP's genus is native to Japan and China.

LEAVES
Reddish purple in spring
Medium green with a slight bluish tinge in summer
Shades of gold, orange and red in fall.

There is also a pendulous variety.
