Since trying different seeds and such. I have noticed these birds coming around, never seen them before..really. There faces are a prominent black and white. THe top of the head is black and then it alternates to white and vise versa til it is all the way around the head. There little bodies are of a faded brown looking. That is the best way I can describe it. Do ya know what they are?

They sound like a type of sparrow. Are they small birds?

Could it be a white-crowned sparrow? They have black and white stripes on their heads. We get a batch of them through here each spring and fall. They are always seen feeding on the ground.
