is it possable to take a branch from an established bay tree and turn it into a cutting? http://crystal-biyu.deviantart.com/gallery#from-my -garden has pictures of the bay tree miced in there mostly macro-like but they should help show what kinda bay it is i have--was baught as an herb from a greenhouse |

Bay is rather difficult to propagate. You could try a bunch of cuttings if your tree is large enough and maybe you'll have success with one cutting. It takes about a year for them to root, so you'd have to be mighty patient. The best way is layering. Bend a stem down to the ground. Make a small nick in the stem where it touches the soil. Cover the stem with soil and secure it there with stones or wire it down. Shoots should appear in six to twelve months. The best time to layer is in spring. Bay is just a difficult plant to root no matter how you do it. Try some cuttings now and layer next spring. |

It's a lil over a foot tall with 1 branch in a 12" pot has many leaves tryin ta leave most of them on fer a happyier plant thakies fer the info |
