I live in New York City and planted a 4 ft. tree a few weeks ago. Its leaves have grown yellow and a couple have become brown at the edges. I spoke to the nursery where I bought it and they advised the yellowing was normal for the fall season. My family had another fig tree for many years and I don't recall the leaves ever changing colors. In looking up the problem on the web, some sites say it's because of too much water. Others say it's due to too little water. Frankly, I'm stumped and I'm hoping for a definitive answer on what I can do. Thanks in advance...johnbil Attachments: ![]() |

USUALLY, but not always (tricky isn't it?), leaves brown on the tips because the plant is not absorbing water fast enough for it's needs. It will stay alive, but not look healthy. Also, because of the onset of the cooling season, you can't be certain it is not because of the season. Keep adequately moist, but not sopping throught the winter, and hope for the best in spring. Figs take a while to show in the spring. |

Thanks for the advise. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. |
