I wasn't sure where to put this. Hubby and I bought Safflower seed for the first time and replenished our feed of B.O.. Well let me tell ya, those birds took to that like a crack addict, they could not get enough.
I hope no one has a crack addict in their family and gets offended by this. The birds were coming in like maniacs. It was cool to watch.

I've never tried it. I don't even think our feed and seed store carries it. My cousin uses it because it keeps the squirrels away. They don't seem to like it.

I never saw it at our feed stores either but sounds like the birds like it.

My MIL swears by safflower seed because it is not messy. But isn't it a bit pricey? Maybe not as high as crack but more than BO seed? Do tell ...

Oh, KeyWee LOL.. Crouching down while I write this, yes its pricey. That is why we only got two pounds of it but two pounds goes a long way. The seed is not heavy, its quite airy . It was 1.29 a lb..
That is what we heard, squirrels dont take to it..Uhmmm, these do unfortunately..
There are birds everywhere. YAY!

I switched from boss to safflower for a month in mid-summer when I was tired of hosps and grackles mobbing the feeder. Unfortunately, after a couple weeks the house finches were eating the safflower so fast it was no longer more economical than boss.

hawkeye you are absolutely correct! It goes so fast, you'd think they hadn't ate in weeks. Those birdies are not going to get safflower everyday, I'd be out in a week for sure.

Picture of the ever-loving squirrel getting the safflower leftovers. Just a slight tap on the window and it flies...lol
