Crepe Mertle Branch

The thing is, I knew by the time I got it home it would be in sad shape. It had to sit in the back of my truck for 8 hours while I was at work and then drive the 40 mile comute home with me.... So I wrapped a REALLY wet paper towel around the broken end and got it home. Now what? Please help! I think this tree it came from is so beautiful. It is such a shame it lost a limb.
