I need help about vallina and Agar plants and its important specially for the the region of Assam. Any one please ? |

You live in India? What is it you need to know about these plants? I have not heard of vallina. Do you mean vanilla? I'm sorry to say the only thing I know about Agar is its use in petri dishes for experiments. Maybe if you tell us more about why you need to know or more details about what information you're after, we could help more. I understand the Assam area is in turmoil. I wish better things for those living there. |

Agar (both the Petri dish substance and the food additive) is derived from seaweed so you'd have to be able to grow and process seaweed to get your own agar. I don't know what kind of seaweed, but it is definitely from seaweed. Vanilla is from the vanilla orchid. They are pretty hard to grow in cultivation (it can be done), but you would need a vanilla orchid first. If you can get your hands on that, it has to be pollinated correctly, then the pods (they look like green beans in a bunch) have to grow. After they're ripe, they need to be seasoned/fermented in the sun to make them actually taste of vanilla and I think that takes about 4 months. It's a pretty laborious process... |
