being in mn. what do you do with a water lily in the winter, if i just keep it in the house in water will it rot? Help |

I haven't tried it but I was told to put it in a 5 gallon bucket of water and put it in a cool dark place for the winter. They need a rest but can not dry out either. Just think, in the wild they winter over in pond bottoms. Makes sense. |

Keep it in your pond, it will start to hibernate, if you must remove it - wait for the leaves to fall and put the tumor/root (in its soil) in a bucket and keep it wet or even just moist... and leave it outside in a safe spot. (I had a lily that was taken from my parents pond and survived 2 years out of water, it wasnt being watered just covered in soil) But I'd keep it in the pond.
