Hello everybody. I own about 1 acre of unused land behind my house (Seattle area) that I have no idea what to do with! It was cleared down to dirt a few weeks ago, but as you can see, it's already filling up with weeds and even some blackberry bushes. I have considered clearing again and planting grass seeds, but I am not really in a position to have to mow 1.5 acres of lawn (including my fenced backyard) on a regular basis. I don't even know where to begin. Should I just let the weeds take over? Plant grass? What would YOU do in my situation? Thanks for reading! Allie Attachments: ![]() |

Hi, just read your question. I would plant all native species. Wildflowers, shrubs, etc. That will be the least work. If you are inclined, you could also put in a great pond with a waterfall. I wish I had that amount of land to work with, I am a city dewller. Shouldn't complain though, one of our rentals burned 2 summers ago and we did not rebuild, so I have about 50 x 70 feet in which to play. Good luck, Kathleen |
