Hi. I recently acquired some unripe passion fruits that I'm hoping I will be able to grow into vines. I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with this. I live in SE Wisconsin (zone 5/6). How should I prepare the seeds to be ready for indoor germination and how would I need to protect the vines for over-wintering once I get them established in the yard next year? Any guidance would be wonderful! Barb |

Hi ~ I used to live in Kenosha County which is Zone 5a. I don't believe you can overwinter passion vine in that zone. But you can grow it as an annual. First, allow the fruits to ripen and then remove seeds and dry completely. You will need to store the seeds for the winter and then plant out after last frost next spring ~ or you can start indoors in late winter. You will need to save more seeds for the following year. Passiflora is a tropical vine. Hope this helps and that next year you actually have a real summer
