Ok, Good Morning Gang, the 1" Plate Trick is still working as of this morning I weighted 230.6 that's BNW weight (butt naked weight)I think I started the 1" plate trick on or about August 1 ? that's a guess. but in reality it truly works. please don't fall for the tricks "low fat chips" "only one calorie" Remember my old friends sayings, If it has a paragraph after it's name on the label "it ant what it says it is" . and my favorite, "their ant no real food at the drive through" How True ?. now this guy is 80+ looks 60 and works like he's 30 , he also says the only thing you need to fatten is a Hog and we all Know what happens to the Hog don't we. I hope everyone well and let's just take it off one ounce at a time, Yea an ounce maybe a slow go for some but it's a Go, GT

Hi all:
it's been a very long time since I have been on this site. Had a hard time finding the forums; thought I lost all of my GG friends. After my Mom died in March, I drastically cleaned up my diet. I have lost 33 pounds. I call it my "one ingredient lifestyle." I am not on a diet. In other words I got rid of the processed foods. I cut out dairy, wheat, processed meats, caffeine and sugar. In my first week I lost 10 pounds. I have since started drinking coffee again, and I do use cream and suger. I do eat meat, (I enjoy a good steak). I refuse to eat "fake' food. I wuld rather eat real sugar than artificial sweeteners, and use real butter than margarine. Our bodies don't know how to metabolize fake food.

When I eat things that are not healthy for me, such as processed bread or a meatball in a restaurant I feel lousy the next day. My fibromaylgia and arthritis are worse and I gain 2-3 pounds. I weigh myself every day, so I know exactly what puts the wight on and I have learned how different foods effect me.

Sorry to be so long-winded, but I am amazed at the difference in how great I feel when I eat healthy.

Wow! That's great! Ten pounds in one week sure tells us that junk food is really junk, doesn't it!

Congratulations to all of everyone's successes and thanks for the great tips and tricks. I am checking in to say TWELVE pounds off this summer! And you know, it's really no ONE thing that did it. It's a combination. First, I decided to THINK about what I put in my mouth. It really gives you pause. Next, NO skipping on exercise. OK, the days I do heavy gardening, I don't do other exercise, but otherwise NO excuses. Mon-Wed-Fri yoga. Tue-Thu light aerobics and weights. Fri-Sat walk three miles. And the hardest thing for me ~ cutting WAY back on carbs (gosh, I love the pasta, chips, potatoes, ack). Instead, I have changed to snacks of cheese and nuts. Yup, sounds fatty but I think I eat less of those. And it seems to work.
Unfortunately, those twelve pounds did NOT come off from where I wanted them ~ I figured I lost weight in my elbows, ankles and earlobes. Alas, the gut remains ~ ack, again!!

Met a fellow this past week that dropped 40 pounds because he had symptoms of diabetes coming on and it is in his family big time. He quit drinking beer, watched carbs and he lost 40 pounds, his wife lost 30. Beer is not good for potential diabetes patients.

Marching through hospital corriadors and not stopping to eat and not being home to munch I did lose a couple of pounds. But had a carb day yesterday and felt rotten this am. It sure does make a difference what fuel we put into our bodies.

Not doing as well as I would like but am one that does better with others. I need some encouragement GG Friends. Am cutting some back on calories but not enough. Can't exercise but sure would like to walk. Maybe after Phys Therapy, I will be able to some. Keep your fingers crossed. ~ BB

I have gained 3 pounds in the past week. I ate lots of Holloween candy, yeck. I feel yucky too. Had my Dad and brother over for dinner Sunday night, Made comfort food, meatloaf, mashed potatoes. But I always include a fresh veggie and big salad with dinner. I think the candy and meatloaf caught up with me. I gave in this morning. I picked up a Dunkin Donuts pumpkin muffin and coffee after bringing hubby to work. Oh, well the pumpkin muffins are only seasonal. I am not going to beat myself up over 3 pounds. It is possible to get back on the right track even when I do give in to temptation. It doesn't have to mean the end of my weight loss.

Still sticking to my program. Feeling great. If you fall from your plan, get back up, brush yourself off, and start again. You are your best friend. Bill Mitchell
