im BRAND NEW... i know i want dill and mints, i want stuff im goin to cook with and drink ( teas) what are my best bets.... thanks SO much for all ur help

Most herbs used in cooking are relatively easy to grow. If I had to pick one... I'd say rosemary. It grows with no attention at all! Im sure there are many many more. |

id say go with the mint but keep it in a container most herbs are good to start with tho aslong as they get enough sun an water youll do fine--im herbs in containers there kinda what i know in zone 5 i say just go for it have youre fun |

I have thymes, sages, oregano, tarragon, chives, and various mints that come back each year. I reseed cilantro, basil, dill, and parsley each year. I live in zone 6. I love rosemary, but it doesn't overwinter in this zone. These are some of the basic herbs for cooking that I use anyway. mitzi |

I have a black thumb, and I started with mint. It's great because it refuses to die, so it gave me courage to try other things. |
