I have a ton of annabell hydrangeas. My DH cut down a damaged tree on the hill which made it wide open to the neighbors. The spot is ment to be a little hide away for sitting on the yardswing and reading or enjoying an afternoon outside. So what i've done is transplant 6 of the hydrangeas to the area on the hill to make like a little cove. My question is... Do the deer find hydrangeas tastey? I found out this spring that they love hostas so now im worried that maybe i should have asked first and then planted. Any help? Thanks gardeners |

Well it looks as if deer do eat Hydrangeas. Sorry. Must not be much they don't eat on. http://www.hydrangea.com/index.php?pr=FAQ#faq1 |

Perhaps they only eat hydrangeas during tough years. My deer walk past all the hydrangeas to eat the roses planted by the house down to the bone. |

hmm this is not a good thing since the hyds are the only plant on the hill, besides some bleeding hearts. Also i did notice that the sheep eat whatever the deer do. My neighbors have sheep that get out of their fence now and again. Rats! Thanks for the info, i do appreciate it. |

Maybe if you plant some onions and garlic around the hydrangeas the deer will leave them alone. Just a suggestion. |
