When is a good time to dig up and move the following bulbs: tulips, hyacinth, daffies, crocus and asiatic lilies? I live in Northern Vt in Zone 4.

Good Afternoon! I live in zone 5, west michigan. I know that for these bulbs I transplant in the fall after the first frost. That is my uneducated input. anyone else do the same or something different? Great question

I believe that is absolutely correct, but I don't know anything about the asiatic lilies.

I live in z-6 and I put my asiatic lillies in the ground in fall. No matter the weather situation I always put my fall bulbs in the second week of October. Your in z-4 you may want to begin real soon. I am assuming Vermont gets frigid early. Im assuming so forgive me.

Yeah, but the ground won't freeze for awhile, and I think I am OK until then. I have heard people say they plant new bulbs as late as Halloween, but since I am transplanting from one spot to another I wanted to make sure the same rules apply, and it appears that they do. Thanks!

Should I throw a little compost in my bulb planting holes? Will it make a bit of a difference?

I just ordered about 60 tulip bulbs and as soon as they arrive I'll plant them. I always add bulb booster when I transplant or set new bulbs.

I do put some miracle grow in the ground with my bulbs and combine it. I do most things backwards it seems. I put the bulb booster on them the 1st week of April. I'll learn one day... darn it.

I always put some bonemeal in the holes when I'm planting bulbs. It seems to help a lot.
