First thing in the morning, open my front door to let dog out. Here's what I see ~ my front walk, castor beans, zebra grass, and front porch (well, sorta).

Would you look at that!! Oh you are such a lucky gal, alot of hard work went into that serenity. You can see down the road too, and the trees they are lined up along it..it appears. I really like that view, its awesome!
I have had a bed in front of my house that has been left empty for months now, on purpose I might add. So now I am ready to plant, BUT dont have a clue what I want to put there. There are way too many things I like..decisions...decisions.

Thanks you two! It was so pretty out there this morning, I just had to share.
Oops, that's not a road ~ that's our driveway! If you look real hard down at the end of it, you can see the house across the road from us. It's far enough away that I can wear my gown (or less) outside if I want to.
Oh, lucky you to have a NEW bed to work with ~ the possibilities are endless. Is it sun or shade? After the ice storm, so many of us have WAY more sun than we used to. Is there anything that I have that can help you get started?

That is your driveway!! And you can go streaking too!! Man! you got it made.. only kidding but hey whose to say I wouldnt do it. LOL
Well, as it stands now, it receives morning light for about 4 hours and then shades. Around evening it gets blasted with the hottest sun of the day. So I dont really know what to look for actually. Any suggestions? My idea was to put in blue colors and white with some red here and there. Hubby is a fanatic about the Kentucky Wildcats so was going to try and make it with as much blue as I could.
Here is a pic of it, sorry for the mess. Well...it wont let me upload a pic so no pic to see. Arghh!

I have some blue salvia that is getting ready to set seed. It is my first year growing it ~ someone gave me the plants this spring and they are flowering now. I will see if I can get some seeds from it when it is ready.
I actually have more luck with beds that get the light you describe (as opposed to full beating sun all day). My beds with partial sun have daylilies, grasses, and all kinds of perennials. You can really do almost anything. If you don't like it, move it ~ I do it all the time.
Here is the blue salvia (IF this works). It looks purple in the pic but it's really very blue in real life

This post has now inspired me to do more with my front yard. Except for the flower bed next to the house, I don't have too much in the front (cause I'm always in the back!). Lots of possibilities-Oh, and Yours is wonderful. Serene.

Me too carolyn, I spent the majority of this year in the back. It needed alot of work and now that it has flourished and bountiful I am at ease now to get to the front. Well so far I have divided the veronica *speedwell* which is very blue and put that in. Divided one of my shasta *crazy* daisies and did the same.
If it is not too much trouble KeyWee I will definitely give the salvia a try?.
I just planted the monardo *bee balm* which is red this year and it did exceptionally well, could I divide that possibly and put some of that in?
Oh btw, carolyn I need to visit your profile for maybe possibly something I may like and ask for..hehe

Just help yourself, Cougar! Check my photos, too, cause I don't have everything listed. I also have some bulbs, Amaryliss, St. Joseph Lily, and on and on.

Guess I need to look at your Page for ideas ~ my BACK yard is a major mess! Every time I put something there my husband makes me move it, and I got sick and tired of it. So now .... nothing. I hate to look out my kitchen windows because there is nothing to see. He keeps using the excuse that he is trying to get rid of (grade) the hill ~ well let it BE a hill for crying out loud! OK ~ rant over, but it just makes me so darn mad!!
