This is a new tomato for me but its a real winner in my garden. Taste is a little different than Brandy Boy or brandywine. Some cat facing as you can see in the pics but we have had a cool spring and summer. Most of the tomato's have been over 2 lbs and many 3 lbs.

OMG-that is some huge tomatoes! I would guess you need sturdy fencing to support that.

carolyncat, All i use to hold them up are cheap 3 foot tomato cages that my brother gave me. ( the old 99 cent ones ) I have 1 pole per tomato screwed into the side of the raised bed and rope or twine wound around the plant as it grows. Now the tomato plants are over 7 foot tall and the last two foot is unsupported. These tomatoes have strong plant stems unlike my Brandy Boys that the wind made a mess out of.

Really awesome tomatos there Wolfwalker, it looks like you have a lot of picking to do!!! These tomatos look simular to beefsteaks to, they get huge that way to!!! Do you know if they are a determinate or a indeterminate? Are they a hot weather or a cold weather tomato? Do you know what zone they thrive in? I would really like to try these tomatos!!! Also did you sow them from seed or planted as plant, and where did you get them from? Those are some really nice tomatos you got there Wolfwalker!! I am jealous, I have a whole lot of green ones on my plant right now, waiting for them to get a little bigger and to start getting red!!! Looking forward to eating on a fresh vine ripened tomato, instead of those store bought ones!!! Tammy

The tomatoes are 80 day indeterminate. I started them indoors 6 weeks before i planted outdoors.I planted on may 15 under plastic they remained covered until June 1. I had the first ripe one 90 days from planting date.I have been giving away allot of tomato's this year.In Alaska you will need to start your tomatoes indoors. We are in zone 5 but get frost until the first week of June and frost most years in September we get a killing frost around the 15th.Talk to someone that gardens for a good variety in your area.

Thanks Wolfwalker, I will definitely check these out and will ask someone up here, if they would be growable. Yea, I will proably have to start them inside, but that's ok. The little 2 footers I have now, I did those by seed, and those were started outside the first of June. Our frost is usually gone by Memorial Day- everybody usually puts their stuff out by Memorial Day!!! Thanks for the info, I will check on this!!! Tammy

Now that's a good size for a sandwich! Our tomatoes this year were smaller than usual. They tasted great, but didn't have much size. They didn't appreciate the tap water. What they craved was some real rain, and we didn't get much of that this year. Better than the last three years, but not enough to make happy tomatoes.

Lol Tammy thats true the mail people don't care, at least some of them. The cost is another thing. It cost us more to send the kids in Alaska's Christmas gifts than we paid for the gifts. Maybe if i train my old dogs to pull a sled naw.
