OK I understand some of you still are in the middle of your season, but here in the zone 9-10 , it's time to finish up with the late crops and get ready for some fall gardening, I must admit things can pile up, I always like to have a garden with that, "friendly take my picture look" but this weekend you wouldn't want to see the "Night Mare on My Street", the cleaning from under the bunny pen (Browne's command post), reworking the tool rack, (boy do they need a good cleaning, sharping, and painting, raking around shed, you know the place that you throw stuff, mowing the weeds, pulling up the tomato pants and cleaning the wire hoops. I have finished the two 4' x 16' raised beds I call "The System"(see picture), filled with a good horse poo, vermiculite and peat soil mix (looks good) pulled a soil sample and sent off, will cover with plastic to solar bake. the other four raised beds have yet to be filled, I think they shall be the spring garden, I may finish for the fall, the twelve new wick water reservoir tubs idea I'm working on (will post pictures)when finished. So let's get going gardeners and post some of your progress or even the I'll get to it later ideas, (heee heee), I'm planning on filling a freezer and about fifty canning jars this season, Later Guilt Trip Attachments: ![]() |

That is a neat design for a raised bed and i have similar idea for my bed next year. I have tended my garden since march and dont think a fall bed will come togeather for us but at least i know my whole family ate really good this summer. We took down 2 sections of our chain link fence to put up a privacy fence and i have 2 sections of gate that are about 6 ft wide and 4 ft tall that i thought to use as a trellis for cucumbers and maybe sommthing else. I havent decided yet. i think cantalope would be to heavy but maybe a different type of cucumbers or flowers. |

I love the way these two beds form the arbor. Good work. |

Looks great, GT. If I remember correctly you were planning an arbor/raised bed setup for beans and cukes that you could walk under. Is this the final product? I liked the idea when you were putting it out there in the forums and will have to show this picture to my husband if you don't mind! Meanwhile, you are miles ahead of me and probably a lot of us when it comes to cleanup, repair, and prepare. My garden is an embarrassing, impossible jungle now. Hmmm...gives me an idea for a late summer garden show and tell. |

Guilttrip how did you get the wire to stay done in there? I would like to do something like that in my front yard for my garden, ecspecially for the peas and the grn. beans. I know what you guys mean, my husband say my garden looks like a maze out there, he has to go constantly around things!!! Tammy |

Thanks Alot GuiltTrip!, for reminding me what I have to do for fall cleanup..lol Actually I have done around the barn/shed thing already (ya know the things you throw there and forget about) and it wasnt pretty. I have sharpened some of my tools already. If I could just get my darn lawn mower blade off..haha I desperately want to start an asparagus bed? and garlic bed, still looking stuff up on it. Id love to sit around with my pals here and have a drink of coffee sometime. The things we could say!! |
