Ok, here's the deal. We rescued this little bugger from my mom. It was tiny and over grown in a small pot and the pot was all cracked because he was never transplanted. I put him in Cactus soil and a bigger pot and what happened was he started growing from the top a whole new cactus. It was so cool to watch. The bottom eventually just turned into root I guess. I planted that part under the soil. In the spring he gets a ring of little cute pink-ish purple-ish flowers going all around the top part.

I have checked out every Cactus book but cannot find it. Do you guys know what he is?
Thanks so mulch!!!!

Halime

That's an interesting-looking cactus, but I can't help you. I don't know a thing about cactus.

It's almost certainly a Mammilaria, so named because the spines arise from a nipple-like protrusion of the catus' surface. Mammilaria is a huge family tho' so I couldn't tell you which one to save my life. Hope that helps.

Thanks again This is a cactus...Pereskia...has the thorns and all. Dose need a bit more watering. This is one of the oldest types. Still waiting for it to flower, it's really sensitive to frost. (-_^)
