My lima beans, in veggi planter, started from seed! They grow so fast sheesh! I originally planted soy bean seeds in this spot but they didn't grow. Not sure why, i planted them when I was suppose to. Oh well, I'll try again some other time. heehee, my luck they'll probably grow too and make a mess of the lima bean seedlings.

Nice looking lima beans. I hope you keep updating the bean pictures because up north our growing season will soon be over.

Thank you wolfwalkerpa! I plant as the package instructs lol.

I'm no expert but I'll update as often as possible. I am an expert at updating and showing off the good and bad of my gardening experience.

what they looked like yesterday. we also tested soaker hose in my veggie planter, I didn't like it very much.

I noticed in other posts a lot of people are picking their veggies already. How come the seeds I buy we have to sow 'em last month/ this month and so on?

example: many are eating their watermelons already...it is written on my package I have to sow the seed in september. Others advised me to plant 'em this month anyway, so i did. so confusing!

The Lima's are growing. I planted lettuce and spinach yesterday. Beans will wait until next June.

I know we are in different areas of the country, and winters are different, but, I am in zone 9-you are in zone 8-Watermelons are a long time coming. Depending on variety (and you know, the amount of humidity makes a difference-I know the west coast doesn't have it like we do), I just can't imagine planting watermelon now. To me anything with more than a 60 day growing period is best left to spring (unless it is a cold crop, like broccoli, cabbage, etc.)

thank you carolyn!

I was finally able to water my veggies and plants today. some of the seedling burned (no water & the heat) but so far so good. i'll have to search GG to see when it starts getting cold here I'm sure I've written about it somewhere at GG!

i'm not familiar with the growing period here yet. It is so different from where I used to live. Gosh i'm barely learning how to grow stuff in ground. I'll have to read up on all the other stuff you talk about.

PS. I'll take pics tomorrow.

I'm glad you were able to return home and it was still there! So sad, those fires. You just can't save anything in a fire.

Thank you carolyn! the fire is 51% contained. just read the lifted evacuation is for residents only. I still smell smoke, see water choppers and planes around but don't see smoke. air quality of course is terrible but considering the people who are still close to the fire I shouldn't complain.

I think my plants suffered 'cause of the heat from the sun. It got real hot in our area.

Question: Do I start getting rid of the weak seedlings or should I leave them? I planted the seeds as instructed but to me it looks as if there are too many in one section.

Still blooming but no lima bean yet. Lost some more last week 'cause I was away. Looks as if lima bean needs lots of water. it's Not like my well behaved okra.
