Hi everyone. My name is Caith Chapman and I am part of Demand Media - the parent company of GardenGuides.com. We have put together a great team to focus on growing this site with all of you. We just had a great call with Linda (yardgranny6) to introduce ourselves more formally and we look forward to doing several more calls in the next few weeks with as many of you as possible.

GardenGuides.com has always been an important property for Demand Media but it's unfortunately had to wait until now to get a team fully dedicated to it. The team we have in place consists of Kate (who you all already know well from the forums), Melissa, Corey, Vibol, and me. We have some ideas we are excited about in terms of growing GardenGuides.com and giving more tools and functionality to our users. But most important to us is making sure that our users get the things that they want. So over the next few weeks we'll be using this forum to ask you for your thoughts and ideas and feedback.

We know that many of you have stuck with us through some transitions that haven't gone all that well over the past couple of years. We want to learn from those experiences and not make the same mistakes. So please don't be shy about letting us know how we can make GardenGuides.com the best gardening site on the internet.

Lots more to come over the next few days and weeks but I'll stop for now. I really just wanted to say hello and introduce myself and let you know how important the GardenGuides.com community is to the site.

Thanks everyone - can't wait to talk more soon :-)

I'm not sure that I want any changes made. To tell you the truth, I slipped over to another gardening forum to ask a question, and it was a horrible experience. Trying to negotiate myself through the site was like a house of horrors. I realized how user friendly Garden Guides is, so whatever you do, please don't change the format.

Hello Caith! As always, Linda gets some great ideas about things ~ the mods here are great! It is nice to hear from those behind the scenes.
I have to agree with Witt. Since I've been coming to GG (going on three years now) I have pretty much abandoned other gardening sites. Us gardeners like things simple and uncomplicated. We'd rather be digging in the dirt than trying to unravel miles of fancy applications. Here at GG, we have a close-knit group that always comes through, whether it be for answers, swaps-n-trades, or just a shoulder.
I must confess to visiting here daily, some days more than once. And I have really enjoyed the information and the people. For some reason, I couldn't log on yesterday morning for an hour or so, and I found myself wondering just how I would feel if GG was unaccessible to me for good ~ was NOT a happy feeling.
Thanks for all that you do (and you mod-folks too!)

I only have one concern regarding this site, lets just say a request, if I may. I want to be able to change my screenname and I am not able to do so. I certainly could cancel this one and start all over but I do not want to cancel everything. Although my pals here don't much care what my screenname is because we are all here to learn, share, swap and basically become a Gardening Community. This site has me hooked and without it I would be very lost.

Hi everyone.

My name is Vibol Hou and I'm part of the team at Demand Media that's going to be responsible for introducing enhancements to GardenGuides! I'll be doing a lot of the heavy lifting in programming everything together, but my background comes directly from making things that make sense to people (human computer interaction). I've also programmed and run a small community-oriented website for the past 9 years so I will make sure to bring this experience to the table when reading through your requests and comments.

Just as many of you have already provided feedback, I hope that you will continue to provide us with copious amounts of feedback on what works for you, what does not work, what you want and what you don't want. We're here to listen and we want to work for you to improve everything!

I look forward to working with you and hope to hear from more of you soon!
