Here she is ~ finally blooming. And there are a lot more buds where this came from. I get over-the-top excited about this kind of thing (I guess)

I love Moonflower vines-and mine is doing almost nothing this year. Last year it totally covered my Arbor and was covered in flowers-It's only part way up the arbor this year, and no blooms!

G98 ~ they may smell good, but unfortunately I can't tell. Can't smell flowers anymore, so count your blessings if you still can. Last June, I had a HORRID sinus infection (yes, I now DO believe you can die from a cold) and after taking the OTC meds for it, I recovered finally, but no sense of smell and limited sense of taste, which now appears to be permanent. Be careful what you take ~ I broke my own rule of NO drugs, because I was SO sick. Ack .....

CC ~ don't toss in the towel yet! With all that rain we had in May, this is my second start of the moonflower vine and I am just getting blooms now. My purple datura has done NOTHING this year and last year it was gorgeous. Challenges.

Gorgeous. I'd get excited, too!

I planted a bunch of seeds that a friend gave me and I got nothing. They never did come up.

That's beautiful! If I ever tried to grow them I didn't succeed and I don't remember planting any. I've always thought they'd be pretty though.

Keewee mine is only about 4-5 inches high. I;m a bit disappointed. The other vine is about 7 inches. It is a pretty vine. The other seeds are about 8" I'm hoping for the best. Love the looks of yours. Can you show us the size against something? How many blooms did you get? Tammy

Yes, granted ~ this plant is hard to start and is a tropical vine so hardy only to Z8. Most of us would need to grow this as an annual (which is what I do and then save the seeds for next year). Those of you with short summers would want to start the seeds indoors. Seeds are hard, so a good soak would be in order.
I grew this vine from last year's saved seeds. The blooms are a good 4" across, nice and big.
Oh, it is ipomoea alba, so a member of the morning glory family.
My vine is not that big ~ I have seen bigger in other zones. I will take more pictures later.
