Could this be Peperomia?

A recently acquired, free addition to my plant arsenal has me curious as to what this plant really is.
I was told it was a Begonia but after some loose research, it looks more like Peperomia. Any thoughts?

The shots were from a cell phone, that's why there is a certain dreamy quality about them.

Begonias have a definite stem to them, very thick like a succulent, and generally with branches; the leaves tend to have short thick stems. The pepperomia that looks similar to the photo has more of a crown with all the leaves arising on long stems from a more central point.

With the number of leaves I see in that shot, a begonia would be a lot taller. I'm thinking a pepperomia with an overgrown crown and maybe a couple extra crowns at ground level also producing leaves.

Or maybe something else entirely.

I believe you have Begonia erythrophylla, Beefsteak Begonia. (Some list it as a cultivar name: Begonia 'Erythrophylla')

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your input. This plant has been more elusive than I expected.
RosemarieRo, you hit the nail on the head. I'm fairly certain this is a Beefsteak Begonia. Nice job!
