I have a problem. Something is eating the very tops of the new buds just before they bloom, any ideas? One more question...what causes tiny leaves all bunched together at the end of a cane? They aren't the big beautiful leaves, just a clump of tiny leaves that doesn't produce buds. Should I cut that part of the cane off? Here's a few pictures....sorry about the blurryness! For the rose buds, I would guess either a japanese beetle or a rose beetle. for the leaves....The pictures seem to show two buds forming,it could be they haven't reached full size yet or you can try feeding. Roses are heavy feeders. For the insect problem, I always vote for the commercial chemical spray. For my fellow gardeners who are watching their carbon footprints, you can pick the off, knock them into soapy water or get beetle traps (these will attract more to your yard), milky spore is also a valid option. Good luck, hope this helps |
