I live in East Texas and there are 2 well established (25 or more years)oak trees in my yard. They both produce the bigger acorns, but the also have this other round fruit that is light tan color with reddish veins. About an inch in diameter. Those would be Oak Galls. As long as they are not directly attached to a branch they will not harm your tree. A gall is an abnormal plant growht or swelling of plant tissue. Ryan |

Galls can be caused by insects. But I agree, they are not a problem. |
