I have the same problem with 2 planted in the ground. Planted about 1 foot apart. I think one has poorer soil than the other. Dont really know. |

The same thing happened in my little veggie box. Planted two plants about 24 inches apart - one thrived and is making more cukes than I can use the other is still very small but seems to be dong better. go figure, I can't |

It could possibly be white rust. It causes swollen, badly formed branches and leaves. The shoots become more erect and spindly. I would remove and destroy the infected plants. |

"If aphids are a problem, spray a hose on the plant. Mealy bugs only occasionally bother it. If it gets white pustules, it has white rust and those infected parts should be cut off. (Or the whole plant discarded.) "Root rot can be a problem if you water too much. That is not likely to happen in our well drained soils, but over zealous pot gardeners should beware heavy hands on the watering can." |

Try new healthy plants. Let us know what you do and about your success. |

How to Grow Moss Rose Plants http://www.gardenersnet.com/flower/mossrose.htm I plant moss rose in the driest areas of my garden. They seem to do better when not watered too much. They blossom more. When everything else is perking up from a few days of rain, the moss rose has stopped blossoming. It begins again when the sun has been hot for a few days. I live in a rainy area, so the application in your area for how often it needs water is probably different than mine. When the weather gets cold, these plants start to look a little yukky before the others. http://books.google.com/books?id=Oyqx28J52RoC&pg=P A32&lpg=PA32&dq=best+soil+for+moss+rose&source=bl& ots=sup2acXmcQ&sig=YrjoKmzFX8ADIuRw75X0R2bSEjo&hl= en&ei=dONZSoW3CsSGtgfFu6XdCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&c t=result&resnum=8 This garden gude at teh link above says that moss rose is at its best in infertile, well drained soil. What conditions is your soil in? |
