I have posted this in another section. Thanks for your help.

Yesterday I spread about a to of new mulch I got from our landfill. They accept yard clippings, etc from citizens and chip it then give it away.
I had no problems with my garden up until this morning when I saw the leaves dying on my plants. The fruits look OK so far. Any advice?? I have been working like a dog for the past 3 months takig care of this small plot. Have I killed it?

I guess I should have said the leaves were from Cucumber and Zucchini plants. The tomato leaf was lightened. The others seem to be turning white then brown. Can mulch burn veggies?

I had a friend with the same problem, I will ask her then get back to you on how they fixed the problem.

Was the mulch really hot when you put it on? I know one year we brought the mulch from our free recycle place and put it while it was smoking hot. Burned a few herbs and perennials though they did all come back. Scared me and I learned to unload it and let it sit a day or so to cool down.

Yep, that's the lesson I learned too. I learned not to put the mulch too close to the plants for the first week or so. Then you can gradually mulch closer. What you can do is move the mulch back from the stems of your plants and water them good. They will probably revive.

Yes, that is what I think, too. The mulch hadn't completely decomposed.

It was warm when I picked it up after work Friday. Then I put a tarp on it overnight because of rain and unloaded it in the morning.

Thanks for the input y'all. I pulled the mulch out of the garden and hopefully limited the damage. A friend said it was possible the landfill had treated the mulch with weed killer. I know the grass where I piled the mulch looks pretty dead after 12 hours We'll see. Live and learn. I like to do both.

thanks, Conor http://www.cukesandzukes.blogspot.com/

Witt, I looked at your blog. That is some beautiful work you do.
