I just planted a mini-garden in a small pot for my youngest sister's graduation present. It has basil, oregano, dill, sage and thyme. I figured it would be a good start to her new life. I'll keep you updated on what she thinks about her present. I used leftover seeds from the herb garden I planted this year. Has anyone else done anything like this? What were the results?

I have given potted plants as gifts, but not a little herb garden. If she enjoys flowers/plants, she will love it.

That can cover a lot of territory if she likes growing things, scents, cooking, heartfelt gifts. I think it's a lovely gesture.

Unless they are plant-haters, I think anyone would appreciate a mini-herb garden as a present!

She's not so much of a plant person, but she loves to cook. She graduated with an entomology degree (bug scientist), so she has at least some interest in living things.

She ought to appreciate it then because there's nothing better than fresh herbs, especially if you have grown them yourself. You may have created another herb-nut!

Double your gift! Tell her about Garden Guides and give her the link! She sounds like she'd blend in really well!

My sister really liked her little herb garden. I only planted it two weeks before I gave it to her, so not everything was up yet, but she was pretty excited to start cooking with them. The only thing she doesn't like about it is it keeps the bugs away (entomologist).
