Wow this one was a tough one too! not easy painting the little stuff.

Just sprayed sealer on it! Hubbies not gonna like the over spray on his shop floor.

That's cute. If you have a Joann Fabric and Craft or even a hardware store, they make paint pens in a variety of colors and metallics that you could use to outline your lettering or do your detail work with. They're like a marking pan and much easier to work with than a brush.
Something else that might help keep you from messing up the floor with sealer is to put your item in a box turned on it's side and use it like a paint booth. Raise the item on something like plastic cups, those plastic centers from pizzas, or even just some dowels, anything, so the run off doesn't make it stick to the box. I've sprayed things in the house or garage using that method and it works great. Just be careful if there's fumes that will come back at you and wear a simple dust mask if it bothers you.
Keep posting your work as you go. These are such fun.

Thanks poetic, great advice. I'll do that for other project! The pen would help even if I use regular brush. Will be easier to cover the paint which comes out of the lines.

heehee, this reminds me of the time when my grandma used to make me and my brother color inside the lines. she used to get so mad when we colored out of the drawing. My brother used to pick on her and color everywhere but in the drawing. She taught us well with crayons but didn't she ever think about teaching us how to use paint!?

Here is a little story with my garden signs-not homemade (well, one is!) like Rashell's (which are inspiring, if I had some small pieces of wood!)
