hi all, I have a watermelon plant that is growing very fast and has extended itself past the garden into the grass. Would it be OK to put mulch under the vines to help control the grass and give the baby melons a nice bed? I dont believe I will be able to keep the grass cut for much longer with the melons maturing.

thanks

I don't see why not!
Your pictures are a good example to show others that melons need a lot of room to vine.

Absolutely, do that! Last year for my cantelope, I put newspaper under the vines first, and then mulch-REALLY helps keep the weeds out! And your melons easier to find!
