Cats seem to like using Cindy's Garden for a litterbox. I've tried keeping the ground moist, but now the cat just leaves its presents instead of burying them. What can I do to make the cats GO AWAY, besides keeping a dog in the garden. Please dont call me a cat hater either, I have one

Thanks to a book by Jerry Baker I recently borrowed from the library, I will share with you what he suggests!!

Scat Cat Solution
5 TBSP Flour
4 TBSP Powered Mustard
3 TBSP Cayenne Pepper
2 TBSP Chili Powder
2 Quarts Warm Water

Mix all of the ingredients together and sprinkle the solution around the PERIMETER of the areas you want to protect.

OR

Foil 'Em Fast

Step 1:
Fill empty 2 liter soda bottles half with water.

Step 2:
Put a couple of long thin strips of aluminum foil into each bottle, and add a bit of bleach (to prevent stinky algae from growing)

Step 3:
Set the bottles strategically around the problem area.

The foils changing reflections will scare off any feline who tries to lay claim to your turf, and your catty problems will be a thing of the past.

I have not tried these at all, just passing along the info.

Good Luck!

Try spreading spent rose or raspberry canes over the soil. Kitties don't like getting stuck with the thorns any more than humans.

Halime I have used it and IT WORKS! I have all his books. I can say this solution does work. It may take a few times but it does work. The rose thorns also works as well. Goodluck.

I have found that moth balls will deter the cats. I know they don't smell good, but they work. The rain will eventually melt away the moth balls, but it has worked for me. If the smell remains long enough - the cats will find a different place to use as a litter box. Good luck

Calidave, don't think of yourself as a cat hater!! You can love cats, just not what they 'doo' in our gardens!!!
