I've been working in my garden a lot lately. One of my many projects was to dig up some old tulip bulbs from the side of my yard. This is a new house I bought & recently moved into, so I'm dealing w/ the previous owner's plants & yard stuff. The tulips did pop up this spring, but you can tell they have been in the ground for more than a few years because of the way they were erratically planted all over, no kind of organization what so ever, lol. Oh, what a mess. So now I've dug up all the bulbs, but how do I keep they good & fresh until the fall? Fall is when you are supposed to plant tulip bulbs, right? I'm sure many of you know by now that I'm new to gardening & just learning the basics of right now. I have to admit, I do feel silly that I ask the most basic of the questions on here. But I know they there are a lot of experienced & awesome gardeners on here, so what better place to ask!!!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

You could keep them bare in a cool dry area, but I'd just get them back in the ground as soon as possible. Since it's not a drastic change in soil environment they'll probably be okay. If you were moving from heavy clay to sand it might be different. Some of mine have been in the ground for close to 50 years or more. This year a purple one decided to pop 3 up! I was happy.
Yours might be random because critters like to dig them up sometimes and they'll grow where they've been taken.
