After having my little tub as a fish pond, my family realized how much I enjoyed it. So My Son-in-Law and two of my neighbors got together and done this yesterday. It is 8ft by 12ft and almost 3ft deep. They will be back next weekend to do the waterfall. I love it. And I love my family and neighbors. It is in the same place as where the tub was.

I believe you are right. It wasn't intended to be, but I love it. Thanks for pointing that out.
Now all I need is lots of water plants, and more fish.

Oh ho great. Your Japanese Maple would look great next to that. I am so jealous.

MamaBear, the pictures are taken from where I sit on the front porch. Where do you think would be the best place to plant my Japanese Maple? I want a narrow flower bed around the pond, and I am the worlds worse at knowing what to plant where. It will be in mostly shade, especially in the afternoon.
Thanks.

I would use it as the background. Place it at the farthest edge from where you sit and then build the rest of your flowers from there towards you going from tallest to shortest. With the delicate leaves and purple color I would try to get some hostas' that have some chartreuse green color in them to contrast the tree. I would also try to get some purples and yellows to mix in there too.

Hey John, I love this pond and MamaBear has a great idea of putting the maple on the tip of the heart (fartherest away from you). Can I send you an iris to plant somewhere around the general area??

I would be delighted to have one of you irises, or any plant that would look good in or around the pond. Thanks, fairygarden.
Mamabear, i will let them finish the pond and then move the tree around in different places. I will take a picture of each location, and ask where it looks the best. Thanks.
